Increase in Orissa’s GSDP

Bhubaneswar: Showing an annual compound growth rate of 5.96 per cent, Orissa’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) increased from Rs 42527.07 crore in 1999-2000 to Rs 63774.71 crore as per the advance estimates in 2006-07, according to state’s economic survey for 2007-08.

The growth of GSDP in 2006-07 was 6.02 per cent over the previous year as per the advanced estimates, said the survey which was released here today, adding that any damage to agriculture and allied sector, which contributes more than 25 per cent of the GSDP, affects the total GSDP.

Stating that record agricultural production was achieved during 2003-04, it said as a result highest growth of 14.30 per cent over previous year was recorded that year.

Gross fixed capital formation in public sector by industry increased from Rs 5476 crore in 1999-2000 to Rs 7586 crore in 2004-05.
