CUTTACK: The condition of three persons, including the only civilian admitted in SCB medical college hospital after the naxal attack in Nayagarh on Friday night, is stated to be serious. At least eight persons, seven of whom are policemen were shifted in two phases to the Cuttack hospital on Saturday from Nayagarh. Hospital superintendent Prof. Trilochan Pradhan said three of the admitted persons have undergone surgery and their conditions are stable. “All the three policemen, including lady constable Pratima Rout ((24) who were operated upon are out of danger”, the superintendent said. The conditions of constable Kantheswar Pradhan (40) and lady constable Padmaja Jani (38) and a civilian Chintamani Sahu (27) are stated to be serious. “They are under observation and as soon as their condition improves, they would be operated to remove the bullets”, hospital sources said. All the persons have received bullet or grenade injuries. The hospital superintendent said that the expenses of treatment and surgery of these persons are borne by the government, the hospital superintendent said. DGP Gopal Chandra Nanda visited the hospital in the afternoon after visiting Nayagarh in the morning. He enquired about the condition of each patient and discussed with treating doctors. The Cuttack DCP S.K. Priyadarshi is also supervising the treatment of the patients at the hospital. Meanwhile, the security at the police headquarters, all the police stations, armory and other police establishments in Cuttack are tightened.
