Kozhikode: Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi has said the State government could ease the burden on the common man caused by the recent increase in the price of petrol and diesel if it gives up its share of tax in the increase. Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Ravi said this was what was needed to cushion the adverse effect of the price rise. “But instead of persuading the State government to do so, the DYFI [Democratic Youth Federation of India] is blocking roads tomorrow,” he said. It had become inevitable because of the rise in the international price of these fuels, he said.
