PUDUCHERRY: Nothing excites tiny tots more than colours. When opportunity beckoned to them on Sunday, the little artists promptly responded to the invitation by exhibiting their creativity and drawing skills. The air was filled with excitement at the ‘Canon Colouring Master’ contest, as enthusiastic parents accompanied their wards to the venue where the little ones could showcase their talents. As many as 450 children from pre-KG to Standard II participated in the contest. The contest was organised by Excite Inc. to mark the 10th anniversary celebrations of Canon. Canon’s brand ambassador is cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. “We wanted to identify the inborn talents of young children and that is why we selected students of classes from pre-KG to Standard II. Usually, children above Standard II have their own talents as they would have undergone some training or the other,” Pankaj Kothari, territory head of Excite Inc., said. Divided into two groups, children in pre-KG to UKG got to colour drawings using crayons and colour pencils. Children in pre-KG were given a picture of a butterfly, while a sketch of a boy and girl playing in a garden for those studying in LKG. A picture of a boy and girl sailing in a boat was given to UKG students to colour. Giving colour to their imagination, students of Standards I and II were given the topics ‘My House’ and ‘Our Garden’ respectively to draw and colour. It was all fun and excitement in the hall where the competition was conducted as crayons, colour pencils and little minds got to work to sketch unique pieces of art. Some preferred mild colours, while a few went in for dark ones. The day was one of pure joy for the participants. The results of the contest will be announced on February 20. Amrit Ganesh and Anbu from the Education Department of Puducherry were the judges of the event.
