KOLLAM: The State-wide vehicle strike, called by motor workers’ unions, was partial in Kollam district on Sunday. While private buses and most taxis kept off the road, KSRTC buses and autorickshaws plied as usual. Private buses plying through Thrikadavur, operated services in view of the ‘arrattu’ festival of the Thrikadavur Mahadevar temple. Being a Sunday, private buses remaining off the roads did not cause hardships to the public. In most areas, the operating KSRTC services had only a few passengers. Private vehicles too plied as usual. ExemptedStaff Reporter writes from Pathanamthita: Friday’s strike evoked little response in Pathanamthitta as the district was exempted in view of the ongoing religious conventions at Maramon and Ranni.
