Mahakumbabishekam held at Ayyarmalai

KULITHALAI: Hundreds of devotees witnessed the mahakumbabishekam of the Sri Rathnagireeswarar temple atop Ayyarmalai near here on Sunday.

After 18 years

The consecration was being held after 18 years.

Yagasala poojas commenced a couple of days ahead and, amid Vedic chants, priests consecrated the temple tower and the idols at the hill shrine that has over 1,000 steep steps.

A large number of devotees including Forests Minister N. Selvaraj, Kulithalai MLA R. Manikkam, Kulithalai Municipal Chairman A. Amuthavel, HR&CE officials from Tiruchi, Karur and Pudukkottai participated in the proceedings.

A large posse of police was deployed.
