Staff Reporter

‘Conversion of single line to double line in 17 projects needed to be taken up in expeditious manner’

BHUBANESWAR: The State unit of Communist Party of India (Marxist) demanded allocation of at least Rs.1,975 crore for Orissa in Union Railway Budget, which is to be presented on February 26.

He said though UPA Government had given enhanced State’s share in railway budget compared to the NDA regime, huge investment was required to undertake different railway development projects.

Fresh allocation

They demanded fresh allocation for ongoing Daitari-Banspani link, Lanjigarh-Junagarh, Khurda Road-Bolangir, Talcher-Bimalagarh, Haridaspur-Paradip and Angul-Sukinda Road railway links.

Similarly, gauge conversion was required in Rupsa-Bangirposhi and Naupada-Gunupur railway links, the party demanded.

Conversion of single line to double line in 17 projects needed to be taken up in expeditious manner, for which the Union Railway Ministry should make adequate funds, Mr. Das said.
