Chitradurga: The Karnataka State Employees’ Association has demanded the implementation of the final recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission. Speaking to presspersons here on Sunday, association State president Bhairappa said that the association would hold a State committee meeting in Bangalore on February 28. Mr. Bhairappa expressed gratitude to the previous H.D. Kumaraswamy Government for approving the first recommendation of hiking the salary, however, other benefits such as allowance, incentives and perks had not been approved. “The association demands a pay package on a par with Central Government employees. While Central Government employees get 30 pay categories, the Andhra Pradesh Government offers 25 categories as compared to only 20 categories in Karnataka. We are demanding the pay categories equal to at least Andhra Pradesh,” he said. He said that the association has already raised their demands to the Finance Department and higher officials. The approval of the recommendation would not put a heavy financial burden on the Government, said Mr. Bhairappa.
