Principals and lecturers’ dharna

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: The Akhila Karnataka Aided Government D. Ed. Colleges Principals’ and Lecturers’ Federation has urged the Government to implement the recommendations in the second report of the Fifth Pay Commission.

Satish, the vice-president of the federation, told presspersons here today that principals and lecturers working with D.Ed. colleges for the last 12 years had been put under a meagre salary slab applicable to high schools. He said the less-qualified teaching staff in pre-university colleges had been getting better emoluments.

They wanted the Government to take steps to implement the recommendations immediately, Mr. Satish added.

The federation would observe a dharna in front of the Gandhi statue on M.G. Road and submit a memorandum to the Government on Monday, he said.
