Drivers’ federation makes demands
BANGALORE: The State Government is spending around Rs. 3,000 crore annually for hiring taxies and private vehicles for various departments, public sector undertakings and other government agencies despite the fact that the government owns vehicles and has permanent drivers on its staff. This was disclosed by the president of the State Government and other Establishments Drivers’ Federation, Venugopal, at a press conference on Saturday.
The federation submitted a memorandum to Governor Rameshwar Thakur demanding fixed working hours, payment of special pay and uniform allowances, free bus passes and filling up of vacant posts. — Staff Reporter
