Andhra Pradesh
If Telangana separates, what will be the fate of Hyderabad city, particularly of those from Andhra region who started their life there after formation of Andhra Pradesh. What would happen if they are targeted? I think any decision taken in this regard should safeguard the interests of all people. D.S. Rao Visakhapatnam Unethical proposalAs regards to the Andhra Pradesh Government’s proposal to regularise all unauthorised structures in the State as a whole and promulgation of ordinance, to say the least, is most unethical, unconstitutional and undemocratic. The Supreme Court had allowed in the past only one time settlement of such regularisation but in AP such illegal act has been repeated 19 times if not more since then. In 1998, the High Court came down heavily on this very particular issue of BRS (Building Regularisation Scheme), directing the government not to implement such a scheme thereafter. As far as Visakhapatnam is concerned, being a native of this place, I am afraid the VUDA and GVMC joined hands with unscrupulous builders and allowed them a freehand in violating the National Building Code of 1970 Construction. In some cases, the approvals given by both VUDA and VMC, now GVMC are themselves illegal and violation of provisions of the norms and the Act in this regard. The corporation cannot escape by simply passing on the responsibility to the builder. In the case of Delhi Municipal Corporation, the officers concerned whether retired or in service, for variations were punished and penalty was recovered from them under the directions of the Delhi High Court 30 years ago. Similar action should be taken for collecting penalties if any both from the builders and concerned officials and not from innocent buyers. C.S. Rao Visakhapatnam Ban plastic useI found that plastic was banned on the hills in Ootacamund (Nilgiris) and even wayside tea shops strictly follow this. Similar ban by GVMC in Visakhapatnam beaches and other tourist spots can help. The vendors should be made to use only eco-friendly disposables to help retain the pristine beauty of the city. PVR Murthy Visakhapatnam Bad roadThe road between Andhra Bank opposite Maddilapalem bus depot and AU boundary wall was dug up presumably to lay underground drainage system. But the road is not relaid and literally raising dust to pose serious health hazards. I appeal to authorities concerned to immediately take remedial measures. Dwaram AV Swamy Visakhapatnam
