Andhra Pradesh
As a result of the efforts by several academicians, Vijayawada has become one of the biggest centres of education in the State. But, when it comes to employment, there are no major industries in and around the city that absorb huge number of students and make them good technicians. As a result, those who complete their academics here are migrating to other cities in search of livelihood. If the manpower can be used locally, the city can witness huge development on all fronts. Organisations like the Krishna Agriculture and Industrial Exhibition Society should focus on employment generation in the city and draw up plans to open industries here. Katragadda Narasayya Moghalrajapuram, Vijayawada Road turns parking placeIn Patamata area, Pantakalava road was re-carpeted recently and a few city buses of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation are being operated on the route. Of late, the stretch between NTR Circle and 100 feet road in Autonagar has become a parking place for lorries and private buses. One can find at least five lorries being parked on the stretch at any point of time. Though the parked vehicles are creating a lot of inconvenience to road users, the lorry drivers and cleaners are least bothered. I wish to draw the attention of the officials concerned towards this problem and hope that the issue will be solved soon. B. Prabhakar Rao Patamata, Vijayawada Run special busesThe road stretch between Prakasam Barrage and Kummaripalem centre was closed temporarily for city buses, as the widening of National Highway-9 is in progress. It may take a couple of months for the completion of the ongoing works. It is desirable that the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation runs special buses for the convenience of people residing in One Town area, particularly in and around Kummaripalem. C. Ram Mohun H.B. Colony, Vijayawada MalnutritionThe recent report of the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) has revealed that there are many children below five years of age, who are suffering from malnutrition and are outside the framework of immunisation in India. The government is launching several welfare programmes, but the focus on implementation of all such programmes is never satisfactory. Poverty is the route cause of malnutrition and it can be addressed only by providing a good amount of work to all the eligible. N. Kripalani Satyanarayanapuram, Vijayawada
