BANGALORE: Jnanpith Award winner U.R. Ananthamurthy on Sunday urged the people to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party in the coming elections to the State Legislative Assembly. Participating in a function organised here to mark the golden jubilee celebrations of the former Kerala Chief Minister E.M S. Namoodiripad Government, he cautioned the people that the Hindu culture would get eroded if the BJP was voted to power. The culture being referred to by the BJP was not the Hindu culture. “Hindu culture is not just a religion. It is a civilisation, which encompasses all communities,” he said, and added that the BJP would change this culture.
