Bangalore: Here is a chance to catch up with the latest trends in Bengal art as Bangalore is hosting two exhibitions featuring artists from the State. Gallery G is putting on display the works of contemporary artists in the show “Hues of Bengal” till February 23. Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath is the venue of yet another week-long show featuring the works of the members of Canvas Artists’ Circle from Kolkata. “Hues of Bengal”, says the curator of the show G. Debdutta Gupta, offers “glimpses of surrealism, modes of narration, and a sense of innocence are evident in the works.” This tradition goes back to some of the greatest artists Bengal has ever produced, including Abanidranath and Gaganendranath Tagore. The event marks the fifth anniversary of Gallery G, which had put on display “Bengal Symphony” when it was started in 2003. Some of the artists to be featured are Paritosh Sen, Bijon Chowdhury, Prokash Karmakar, Isha Mahammad and Suhas Roy among others. Visit gallerygbangalore.com. for details on artists. The exhibition at Chitrakala Parishath, which was inaugurated on January 18, is on for a week. It features 48 paintings and 10 sculptures by 20 artists.
