Celebrating tradition: Renaissance music concert by Custos Consort. NEW DELHI: A concert of Hungarian renaissance music is being organised by the Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre in cooperation with India International Centre here this Wednesday. The concert will be presented by “Custos Consort”, a well-known early music band established in Hungary. A part of “Magyar Masala -- Hungarian Culture in Focus”, the group will perform chamber music and solo singing from the highly appreciated European Renaissance and Baroque ages. The performance will offer an insight into the amazing culture of the “old continent”. During the performance, special musical instruments of that era -- viola de gamba and harpsichord -- will be played for the public. Members of the musical ensemble include Sandor Szaszvarosi who plays the viola and cello, Piroska Vitarius on the baroque violin and Judit Andrejszki on harpsichord and vocals. Gabor Tokodi will play the lute. Of the performersAfter graduating from the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Sandor began participating in international instrumental and chamber music courses. Piroska obtained her violinist and teacher’s degree from the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy in 1994 and has participated in several period instrument courses across Europe since then. She won a special prize at the International Baroque Singing Competition in Budapest and has been performing with the Musica Profana since 1987.
