Cusat Workshop: The Department of Physics at the Cochin University of Science and Technology in collaboration with SPIE-Cusat chapter and the IUCAA Reference Centre (IRC) will organise a 10-day workshop for schoolchildren from April 16 to 26. Students completing standard IX in 2008 are eligible to apply. Science day: The Department of Applied Chemistry at the Cochin University of Science and Technology will observe National Science Day on February 28. Gangan Prathap, Vice-Chancellor, will inaugurate the event at a function to be held at the SMS auditorium. An all-Kerala inter-collegiate chemistry quiz will also be held on the occasion. Select postgraduate students from different colleges of Kerala will participate. The event is being sponsored by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment. The Centre for Science Communication on the campus will conduct a workshop on ‘Creative Science Writing’ on February 29. Teachers, college students and those interested in writing science can participate. The entry is free and based on first-come- first-serve basis. Details can be had from 0484-3922439, 2577354.
