Woman dies

SRIVILLIPUTTUR: A woman, P. Seeniammal (46), was charred to death in an accidental fire that destroyed 14 huts at Watrap on Monday.

The police said that the fire reduced the property in the huts to ashes before fire fighters could put out the flames. The Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, and the Srivilliputtur MLA, T. Ramasamy, inspected the accident spot. The affected families were given dhotis, saris, and food grains and Rs. 2,000 each.
