One kg opium recovered; three held

Jalandhar: The District police on Monday arrested three persons and recovered one kg of opium from their possession.

While Rinku and Raman were nabbed with half a kg of opium during a routine check at the Jamsher-Chachowal road, Balraj was rounded up with another half kg of the contraband from a nearby village, police sources said.

A case under the NDPS act has been registered and investigations are on, they added.

In a similar incident two persons including a woman were arrested after 200 gms of smack were recovered from their possession.

Arrested persons were identified as Monica, wife of a notorious drug peddler and his brother Binni Sahota, Superintendent of Police S.K. Kalia said. — PTI
