Girl alleges police harassment
Bhubaneswar: A girl was allegedly harassed by the police personnel at Jagannath temple premises who suspected her to be a foreigner.
Sreerupa, in a complaint with temple’s chief administrator Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, alleged that a woman constable harassed believing her a ‘foreigner’ when she visited the temple with her mother and friends on Sunday. Non-Hindus are barred from entering the temple. “Is it wrong to be fair and good-looking?” she asked, describing the behaviour of security personnel as ‘humiliating’. She complained that they were brought to the temple outpost where the police allegedly grilled them. -PTI
