Compensation sought for tribals

Staff Reporter

ADILABAD: Y.S. Jagan Yuva Sena and Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad on Monday threatened to launch indefinite hunger strike at the Bugga irrigation tank in Gatrapalli village in Kasipet unless the issue of compensation to tribal families whose lands were acquired is solved within the next 10 days.

All the 27 tribal families from the village from whom 52 acres were acquired for canal works came to Adilabad and represented the long pending matter to Collector Ahmad Nadeem.

Later, at a press conference sena district president Madavi Venkatesh Pradhan and parishad district general secretary Kodapa Premsagar said officials concerned have shown negligence during the last three years in releasing the compensation, putting the tribal families to enormous hardships. They alleged swindling of the compensation money by officials.
