Better rural health services planned

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government is framing rules for expansion of health services in the rural areas, under which selected doctors will be required to serve in villages. The creation of the Rural Health Service cadre is expected to stop concentration of medical experts in the cities.

State Medical and Health Minister Narpat Singh Rajvi said while inaugurating a health sub-centre at Bhaisawata village in Jhunjhunu district over the weekend that the new rules would help strengthen the health care infrastructure in the rural areas and prevent the medicos serving in villages from going on deputation to cities.

Mr. Rajvi said the doctors serving in villages would be given priority in admission to post-graduate medical courses, while the para-medical staff would also be encouraged to work in the rural areas.
