KORAPUT: India Bike Ride-2008 received a warm welcome in Koraput when it reached here on Monday. The ten-member team of motor bike riders from United Kingdom, under the leadership of Jenny Brayshaw started their journey on bicycles on February 11 from Visakhapatnam and travelling through S.Kota and Araku in Andhra Pradesh, they reached Koraput. InteractionOn their way to this place, the team had interacted with leprosy-affected persons at the disability care, pre and post operative care centres and their socio-economic rehabilitation centres. The members had also interacted with various communities and NGOs, which are working for the welfare of the people who were infected and effected with Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and other dreaded diseases. ExhibitsFilm shows, exhibition, street plays and pamphlet distribution were carried out all along as a part of the Information Education and Communication (IEC) activity for creating awareness on core health issues, Ms. Brayshaw said. The team would reach Visakhapatnam on February 22 after travelling through Laxmipur, Rayagada in Orissa and Parvathipuram and Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh , she added. The team was later flagged off in the morning from LEPRA office in Koraput.
