The Hindu Trophy from today

VISAKHAPATNAM: The 15th annual The Hindu Trophy prize money cricket tournament will commence here on Tuesday. The final will be held on February 23.

The Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association (VDCA) is conducting the tournament on behalf of The Hindu.

Twelve teams will participate in this year’s tournament, which will be held on a knock-out format.

Among the teams are defending champion Metro CC, winner of the tournament for seven years, last year’s runner-up East Coast Railway Sports Association, which was the joint winner with Metro CC the previous year, Visakhapatnam Port Sports Council and VDCA club teams.

The winner will be presented with a silver trophy in addition to the prize money. The runner-up will also receive cash award.

The sponsors will also present The Sportstar Player of the Tournament award, which carries a cash prize, and special awards for best batsman, bowler and allrounder.

The matches will be played at the Port Stadium, Zinc Stadium and the ACA-VDCA Stadium.

NIN posts win

NIN defeated DLRL by three wickets in the Satish Dhawan Space Cup cricket tournament, organised by the National Remote Sensing Agency, in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The scores: DLRL 128 (Raja Ram 27, Naveen Kumar three for 23) lost to NIN 130 for seven (Prasad 52).

DMRL 119 for nine (Uma Shankar three for 22) bt ASL 79 (Raj Kumar three for eight).

SOI 116 (Satish 33 not out) lost to NRSA ‘A’ 117 for four (K. Chandrasekar 63).

DRDL 185 for nine (Amaresh 61, Yadagiri 34, P.T. Rao three for 21) bt NRSA ‘B’ 93 (Subarna Paul three for 22).

BDL beats TFC

Bharat Dynamics Ltd. recorded a solitary-goal win over Tarnaka Football Club in the V. Hanumantha Rao Super Cup prize money football tournament in Hyderabad on Monday.

The match-winner came through D. Sekhar in the 17th minute of first-half.
