NEW DELHI: Jeevan Kumar, brother of alleged kidney racket kingpin Amit Kumar, was remanded to the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation till February 29 by a court here on Monday.

The CBI produced Jeevan in the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjeev Jain and sought his remand saying he was allegedly involved in managing the kidney transplant surgeries that his brother Amit undertook. The investigating agency had arrested him at Lodhi Road on Sunday.

In a related development, the test identification parade of Assistant Sub-Inspector Ravinder Singh was conducted at Tihar Central Jail in the presence of Upender, another accused in the kidney racket.

‘ASI bribed’

The ASI was arrested by the Delhi police after it came to light that he, along with his team members, had taken Dr. Upender into custody in connection with the racket, but had let him off after allegedly accepting Rs. 19.85 lakh as bribe. A few days later the racket was finally busted by Moradabad police.
