NEW DELHI: Less than 24 hours after a 30-year-old labourer was crushed to death by a Blueline bus near Nizamuddin railway station, his 26-year-old wife was found hanging at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences Trauma Centre here on Monday. The couple reportedly worked as casual labourers in neighbouring Gurgaon and have left behind a two-month-old boy. According to the police, Dalima was apparently distressed over the death of her husband Aqueed in the accident and committed suicide by hanging herself in a toilet of the AIIMS Trauma Centre around 5 p.m. She had been in the hospital since Sunday evening after her husband was taken to AIIMS following the accident. No suicide note has been recovered. A case has been registered and the body has been sent for post-mortem, the police said. A speeding Blueline bus plying between Okhla and Old Delhi railway station had fatally knocked down Aqueed around 6-30 p.m. on Sunday while he was getting off the bus with his wife and their two-month-old son. The family had come from New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal. In another incident, 33-year-old Shyam Sunder allegedly committed suicide by leaping off the fourth floor of Ambadeep building at Connaught Place around 2-30 p.m. The deceased was a Class IV employee with a financial company. In a suicide note recovered from the spot, Shyam reportedly said that no one was to be blamed. Shyam Sunder had got married last October and the police suspect that domestic problems might have pushed him to take the extreme step.
