Ramachandran Nair elected CPI secretary

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: P. Ramachandran Nair has been elected as the new district secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI).

Mr. Ramachandran Nair was elected to the post at the party’s district convention, which concluded here on Monday.

This is the third time that Mr. Nair has been elected as the district secretary.

An activist of the CPI since 1969, Mr. Ramachandran Nair entered the party through the student’s wing. Over the years he has occupied several positions in the party, starting from the position of a branch secretary in 1973.

An office-bearer of various trade unions, including electricity and transport, Mr. Ramachandran Nair had also served as a working committee member of the AITUC.

He is also currently the State executive committee member of the party.
