Selected for Birla Foundation awards

NEW DELHI: The K.K. Birla Foundation has decided to present the Sixteenth Vachaspati Puraskar for 2007 to Swami Rambhadracharya for his work ‘Sribhargavaraghaviyam’ (Mahakavyam).

The Rs.1-lakh award is given for work in Sanskrit published during the past 10 years. It is also given for translation of works into Sanskrit.

According to a Foundation release here on Tuesday, the 2007 Bihari Puraskar will be given to Hindi poet Yashwant Vyas for his Hindi novel ‘Comrade Godse’. The Rs. 1-lakh award is meant for literary works of Hindi or Rajasthani writers belonging to Rajasthan.

Shankar Puraskar

The Foundation has also decided to give the Shankar Puraskar for 2007 to Prof. R.S. Tripathi for his work ‘Baudh Darshan Prasthan’. The Rs. 1.5-lakh award is given for outstanding work on Indian philosophy, culture and art.
