NEW DELHI: Further consolidating its sports utility vehicle (SUV) portfolio, Ford Motors on Tuesday launched a new version of Endeavour. Priced at Rs. 17.32 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the “Endeavour Thunder+” has been powered by new 16-valve, 3-litre turbo-diesel engine. Advanced SUVLaunching the new version here, Ford India’s Vice-President (Marketing, Sales and Service), Scott McCormack, said it was the most advanced and powerful SUV in its class. “The new SUV delivers unmatched power, best-in-class torque, cleaner tailpipe emissions and excellent fuel efficiency. The result is a comfortable and premium 4x4 SUV ready to overcome the challenges of India’s demanding conditions,” he added. Endeavour’s advanced version provides the SUV owner with a vehicle of class-leading ability on-road and off-road. It is equipped with safety technologies like anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) system to assist the driver during high-demand situations. Additional featuresBesides dual front airbags, the additional safety features include increased diameter of the shock absorbers for better control and handling in all driving conditions, repairable breakaway front bumper system that minimises collision impact and maximises safety. The SUV also has an engine immobiliser and an anti-theft alarm ensuring complete vehicle security, Mr. McCormack added. Ford now has three versions of SUV Endeavour, including the two variants with 2.5 litre engine launched in June last year. “There will a marginal difference in the fuel efficiency of SUVs with 3-litre and 2.5 litre engines,” said Mr. McCormack. Stating that in 2007 Ford sold over 40,000 vehicles in India, he hoped that they would record good sales this year too due to easing out of the passenger car market.
