A Memorandum of Understanding to this effect was signed by Yang Weize, Party General Secretary, Wuxi, and G. A delegation, comprising business leaders and government officials from the Wuxi City Government, People’s Republic of China, are in the country to develop bilateral relations with their Indian counterparts. The purpose of the visit is to seek cooperation with Indian companies in the service outsourcing industries to achieve win-win development. Mr. Raghavan, who is also the chief consultant for the project, will work closely with the local Government and help them identify and build the requisite IT infrastructure that will foster talent pool in the region. Mr. Yang said that they were committed to develop Wuxi as the leading outsourcing centre. “We are delighted to have NIIT as a partner to help us in our endeavour. NIIT’s presence in China and its pioneering experience in India will help us develop a large pool of IT human resources in Wuxi,” he said. The IT training market in China is expected to grow at CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 24 per cent in the next two years. There is also a need to create more then five million software engineers by 2015. Mr. Raghavan said that NIIT’s tie-up with the Wuxi Government was a significant enhancement of the company’s decade-long commitment to develop IT talent in the fast growing Chinese market. NIIT was looking to expand its presence in China and the Wuxi Government was looking towards expanding the IT set up in the region. The MoU represented perfect synergy of NIIT and Wuxi. NIIT had signed another MoU with the Wuxi New District in Mumbai recently, with similar objectives for the district. While NIIT will set up IT training centres and offer its industry-recognised training programmes in the Wuxi province, the Wuxi Government will provide the necessary support for enabling preferential policies at the national, provincial and municipal levels. The delegates discussed and deliberated on cooperation with Indian companies in the service outsourcing industries to achieve a mutually beneficial development and investment opportunities that have been authorised by both Indian and Chinese governments. Fang Wei, Vice-Mayor of Wuxi, and Jonathan Prial, Vice-President, IBM, were present.
