Karunya varsity triumphs

Coimbatore: A solo effort by striker Shygin in the 33rd minute helped Karunya University (Coimbatore) score a 1-0 win over St. Jude’s (Thuthoor) in the final of the fourth inter-State inter-collegiate football tournament for men for the Sree Narayana Guru Rolling Trophy at the SNGC grounds here on Monday.

Final: Karunya (Cbe) 1 (Shygin 33) bt St. Jude’s (Thuthoor) 0. Semifinals: St. Jude’s 1 (J. Jose 16) bt Sathyabama University (Chn) 0; Karunya 3 (Rashid 42, 61, Shygin 63) bt Sree Narayana Guru (Cbe) 0.
