Easy win for AP Police

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Police recorded a 3-1 win over Shastri Club, in the V. Hanumantha Rao Super Cup prize money football tournament at the Gymkhana Grounds here on Tuesday.

Mallikarjun put Policemen ahead in the 20th minute, and within two minutes Azeem made it 2-0. A self-goal by Shastri’s defender Sudhakar helped APP take a 3-0 lead in the 28th minute.

In the 40th minute of second-half, a long-ranger from Prithvi reduced the margin.

The scores:

Capco Capacitors 124 for eight lost to Genpact 128 for seven; Bajaj Allianz 116 for eight (Ashwini four for 22) bt Gati 103; ICICI 105 for eight lost to IBM 108 for seven.

Triathlon teams

The following players will represent Andhra Pradesh, in the 17th senior National triathlon championship to be held in Visakhapatnam from February 23 to 24.

The teams: Men: Arun Kanth (Kri), P. Krishna (Vsp), A. Satish Kumar (Vsp). Women: C. Preethi (Kri).

Cistron beats Veva

Cistron recorded a four-wicket win over Veva, in the sixth Friendship Cup cricket tournament for corporate groups here.

The scores: Zinda Tilismath 90 lost to Team Reebok 93 for seven.

Veva 123 for five lost to Cistron 126 for six.

Genpact posts win

Genpact scored a three-wicket win over Capco Capacitors in the Concern India Foundation cricket tournament for corporates, organised to raise funds for charity here.

SAI selections

Sports Authority of India (STC, Secunderabad) will organise selection trials for sportspersons in the age group of 14 to 18 years in athletics, badminton and hockey from February 21 to 26, according to K. Srilatha Reddy, Assistant Director of SAI. Contact 27906130\9989950066.

Chess tournament

Coaching camps

The Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association will organise coaching camps during summer holidays for boys in the 10 years (born on or after Apirl 1, 1998) and 13 years (born before Sept. 1, 1995) age groups.

Interested have to register their names between 10 a.m. and noon on March 2 at any of the following centres by producing age proof certificate: ACA-VDCA Stadium, PM Palem; GVMC Stadium; Zinc Stadium, Gajuwaka; Ukku Stadium, Ukkunagaram; Railway Stadium; Port stadium; NAD ground; AU Engineering College ground; Dr. L. Bullayya College ground and Bheemunipatnam cricket ground.

Local Ashore wins

Local Ashore team won the team championship in the Eastern Naval Command athletics championship, which concluded in Visakhapatnam, on Monday. Local Ashore pipped Fleet ‘A’ by four points to take the title with 152 points. M.A. Hunsie (Local Ashore) was declared the best athlete.

Tennis tournament

The Babji Tennis Centre is organising the Kalidindi Parvathamma memorial district-level juniors’ tournament at its premises, Rocket Park, Seetammadhara north extension at Visakhapatnam from Feb. 22 to 24.
