Thiruvananthapuram: Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy has said that it was to cover up his embarrassment at the success of the hartal that Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan charged the UDF with having resorted to violence as part of it. In a statement here on Tuesday, he said the government tried to provoke the UDF workers by having them arrested and by foisting false cases against them in many parts of the State. The Chief Minister and the Ministers who were preoccupied with factionalism were acting as if they were not aware of the agitations being organised by the UDF to highlight issues affecting the people.
