Rs. 56,829-crore MoUs signed at Investors’ Meet

BHOPAL: Sixty-one memorandums of understanding worth Rs.56,829 crore were signed in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan at the recent Investors’ Meet in Jabalpur.

The Jabalpur Meet concluded with the Chief Minister urging the industrialists to invest in Madhya Pradesh. Describing Madhya Pradesh as an “island of peace”, he said it had the power to embrace everybody as there is no trace of “regionalism” in the State.

The Jabalpur Investors’ Meet saw TRIFAC signing 44 proposals worth Rs.30,000 crore for setting up units based on iron ore, steel, energy appliances, food processing, cement, sponge-iron, aluminium and manganese processing, sugar, waste recycling, granite and stone. Five MoUs worth Rs.24,000 crore were signed in the energy sector and nine MoUs worth Rs.903 crore were signed for jatropha, herbs and cultivation of medicinal plants on barren lands, bio-diesel and Food Park.

IT units

Similarly, MoUs amounting to Rs.350 crore were signed for establishing IT units in special economic zones.

Earlier, 102 MoUs worth Rs.1.2 lakh crore were signed at the Indore Global Summit and 18 MoUs worth Rs.39,000 crore were signed at Khajuraho. During these Investment Meets, held at the initiative of the Madhya Pradesh Government, 181 proposals have been received for investment worth Rs.2.16 lakh crore.

Foreign delegates

Besides representatives of many big industrial houses, delegates from Hong Kong, Britain, Canada and Ireland were present at the Jabalpur Meet, which was also attended by 200 entrepreneurs from the Vindhya, Mahakaushal and Bundelkhand regions of Madhya Pradesh.
