Promises land, infrastructure for the school Issue to be taken up at ISB’s board meeting HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has offered to provide land and infrastructure to establish another campus of Indian School of Business (ISB) in Tirupati. Dean of the institute M. Rammohan Rao has indicated the proposal may become a reality.Addressing the Hyderabad community at a function to felicitate the faculty members and staff of the ISB organised by TiE, an organisation of business leaders and entrepreneurs, here on Tuesday, Dr. Reddy mooted the idea of having a second campus of the ISB. The ISB was ranked 20th top B-school in the world by UK-based Financial Times. Dr. Reddy urged Prof. Rao to take up the Government’s proposal with the board of governors of the ISB. Prof. Rao, in his reply, said chairman of the board Rajat Gupta had already been briefed about the proposal and the board would discuss the issue in its next meeting in April. “I hope the decision will be positive. I thank the Chief Minister for the gesture,” he said. Laying emphasis on producing quality human resources, the Chief Minister said that the State Government was setting up three IIITs and students who passed out of class X would be eligible. While the intake would be 2,000 rural students in each institution, the Government would spend Rs. 1,200 crore on each IIIT. The BITS-Pilani and the IIT would also commence functioning soon, while an Indian Institute of Management would come up in Visakhapatnam. Dr. Reddy said that the Government was targeting to have banks extend Rs. 10,000 crore towards loans by 2010 to women self-help groups . Prof. Rao in his thanksgiving reply said that the ISB derived inspiration from Dr. Reddy’s Labs and Satyam Computers, which had grown global. TiE president J.A. Chowdary welcomed the gathering. Founding dean of the ISB Pramath Raj Sinha also participated.
