BHUBANESWAR: In a bid to provide round-the-clock and free-of-cost transportation service to the pregnant women awaiting delivery, the National Rural Health Mission, in association with the Health and Family Welfare Department of Orissa, has announced the launching of Janani Express soon. According to sources, the scheme will be implemented in 124 administrative blocks of the State out of 314 in the first phase of the programme. The blocks where the number of average deliveries per month is 50 have been covered in the phase. Pregnant women and sick infants in emergency need of transport will be the beneficiaries of the scheme, say the officials. Sick infants in need of emergency medical care will also be eligible to avail the free service.
