CHENNAI: One person was arrested on Tuesday in connection with theft of credit cards.
Police said 31-year-old S. Ravindra Kumar of Tiruvottiyur was arrestedbased on a complaint lodged by Bhavani, wife of Sivaraj, on January 3. She said her hand bag, containing four credit cards and a mobile phone, had been stolen from her two-wheeler parked in front of a shop near Sowcarpet.
Bhavani had locked her scooter and went inside a sweet shop. When she returned, she found the bag missing. The complainant had informed the banks about the loss of credit cards. The investigation of the duplicate copy of the bills of the items purchased led the police to a shop in Tiruvottriyur where the accused had bought a mobile phone.
Using the IMEI number of the phone, the police requested telecom service provider Airtel to provide details of the SIM card used on the handset. The police traced the accused, using the address he had provided while purchasing the SIM card.
