Child labourer rescued

KANCHEEPURAM: The Labour Department officials rescued a child labourer from a showroom in Kancheepuram recently.

According to sources, a team of Labour Department officials, led by Labour Inspector M. Lakshman, conducted surprise checks at various establishments in the town on February 14. During the inspection, they found Arunachalam (12) employed in a showroom on Kavarai Street.

He was rescued and admitted to a school run under the INDUS Scheme. Legal action was initiated against the showroom owner.
