Panaji tense
Panaji: A mob led by the former Minister and MLA Antanasio Monserratte and city Mayor Tony attacked the police station here on Tuesday night and burnt some vehicles demanding the release of two persons arrested in connection with a clash between two gangs.
Police resorted to lathi charge and fired teargas to disperse the mob, which attacked the police station injuring a few policemen.
The mob gathered after two rival gangs from the Taleigao locality clashed in the evening. After the gang war, the police arrested two persons.
Mr. Monserratte, Taleigao MLA , was leading the morcha at the police station. Mr. Tony is also part of it and both had been detained at the police station.
The situation became tense when a large number of locals turned up at the police station. — PTI
