TAHDCO gets first prize

NAGAPATTINAM: The Minister for Dairy Development, U. Mathivanan, said on Monday that there was a good response from the public for the 10-day multimedia publicity campaign organised by the Information and Public Relations Department at Avuri Thidal here that concluded on Monday.

Speaking at the valedictory function of the campaign, he said that nearly 30,000 persons had visited the stalls put up by nearly 25 departments highlighting the achievements of the welfare schemes and projects being implemented by the State Government.

Mr. Mathivanan highlighted the achievements of the various welfare schemes and projects including distribution of rice at Rs.two per kg in the fair price shops to family cardholders, free colour television sets, free LPG gas stoves with gas connection, free house site pattas and free land to landless poor, etc being implemented by the DMK Government.

The stall put up by the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing Development Corporation (TAHDCO) bagged the first prize. The Horticulture and Forest departments secured the second and third prizes respectively.

The Minister distributed prizes to the winning departments at the function. Tenkasi S.Jawahar, Collector, who presided over the function, said that several events including cultural and entertainment programmes, free health camps, free soil testing camps, healthy baby contest, dog show, were conducted during the 10-day campaign.

A. Annadurai, District Revenue Officer, Nagapattinam, P.Muthiah, District Information and Public Relations Officer, Nagapattinam and others also spoke.
