Travel guide commits suicide

NEW DELHI: A travel guide allegedly committed suicide in a hotel room at Paharganj here on Monday night.

The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when despite repeated knocks at the door there was no response from Ranjit Kumar Mandal’s room at Darshan Palace Hotel. Subsequently the police were called in. Ranjit was found hanging from the ceiling.

Enquiries revealed that 35-year-old Ranjit had come along with a 119-member-tourist group from West Bengal which reached the Capital via Mathura and Vrindavan on Monday. The tourists told the police that Ranjit was upset for the past couple of days. Inquest proceedings have been initiated.
