Five men in their 20s barged into the house Took the keys, ransacked the entire house
NEW DELHI: Five young men took a woman and a domestic help hostage inside their house and made off with a huge amount of cash and gold at knife-point in Chandni Chowk here on Monday.
The robbers, who were in their late 20s, barged into the house in Gali Anarwali armed with knives around 6-40 p.m. and took the 10-year-old domestic help and his 45-year-old employer Khatun Begam hostage. Khatun’s husband Mohammed Alauddin (52) runs an electrical motors’ shop in Mayapuri and was not present at home.
“They rang the door-bell and when our domestic help opened the door they pushed him aside and barged inside. When my wife came out of her room, they tied up her hands and legs and covered her face with a shawl. The robbers took away the keys from her at knife-point and ransacked the entire house. They stayed for around 30 minutes and made off with Rs.10 lakh in cash, about a kg of gold and a mobile phone,” said Mohammed Alauddin.
A few minutes after they left, Khatun Begam informed her husband about the incident over phone. Mohammed Alauddin then reported the matter to the police. A case has been registered under Sections 392 (Robbery) and 397 (attempt to cause grievous hurt) of the Indian Penal Code.
