The yatra was originally scheduled for February 10

People’s response to the yatra good, says party leader

VIZIANAGARAM: TDP Polit Bureau member P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju flagged off the party’s cycle yatra at Jiyyammavalasa, the mandal headquarters village in Naguru Assembly constituency in the Agency region on Wednesday. The yatra that was to begin on February 10 was postponed due to inclement weather. Mr. Ashok, the party district president Yadla Ramana Murty, the constituency in-charge and former MLA Nimmaka Jayaraj were among many party men that participated in the cycle yatra.

When contacted, Mr. Jayaraj said over phone that the yatra started off at 11 .30 am passed via Bommika, B.J Puram and halted at Sikhabadi centre where lunch was arranged for 1200 people. He said that response to the cycle rally from people was good. The aim of the yatra was to enlighten people on corruption at every level, irregularity in Indiramma housing and National Rural Employment Guarantee programmes, anti-people policies of the government and also to expose the government’s claim on releasing water through irrigation projects. The yatra would end at Cheepurupalli on March 5.

According to sources, party president N.Chandrababu Naidu is likely to participate in the yatra at Bhimasingi junction, 15 km from here, on March 2.
