SALEM: The State Government is providing 400 bags of cement to a consumer at a concessional rate of Rs. 200 per bag, Collector N. Mathivanan has said. In a statement, he said that the government had relaxed the norms for distributing cement at subsidised rate through the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC). Accordingly, a consumer could get a maximum of 400 bags hereafter directly from the TNCSC by submitting necessary documents, including the plan approval. Earlier, the government fixed 200 bags as the maximum limit. PermitsThose who do not have plan approvals could get the cement by obtaining permits from the taluk office. People from lower and middle class could get a maximum of 25 bags of cement for carrying out repair and maintenance works to their houses. People could pay in cash at the TNCSC godowns instead of demand draft for purchasing cement up to 50 bags. More information can be obtained from the TNCSC Regional Manager Ph: 0427-2282012, 94431-18108 or Collectorate- 0427-2451172 or 2451173.
