Kanhangad: Renowned priest Irival Keshavan Vazhunnavar, who is closely associated with the administration of several temples in Kerala’s North Malabar region, died at a hospital here on Wednesday following age-related ailments, family sources said. He was 82. Keshava Tantri, as he was known in Kasaragod district, adorned the position of the head priest of nearly 200 temples in the district and was closely associated with various cultural and educational institutions. The tantri was bestowed with the ‘tantrik acharya’ award at a State-level meet of the Kerala Tantrik Samajam held at Angamaly in Ernakulam last year. His mortal remains were cremated on the premises of his ancestral home at Irival near here. People from all walks of life paid tributes to the tantri.— PTI
