‘CPI(M)’s third front move anti-national’

Staff Reporter

RSP (Baby John) formally recognised by EC

Call to unite RSP factions to counter CPI(M) moves

KOLLAM: Attempts by the CPI(M) to create a third front is an anti-national move, RSP(Baby John) leader Shibu Baby John has said.

At a press conference here on Wednesday, he said a third front would only help communal forces come to power and that will prove disastrous for the country’s unity and integrity. He said his party had been formally recognised by the Election Commission as the RSP (Baby John). The recognition was formalised on January 28 and he received the communication in this regard, Mr. John said.

He said the CPI(M) was out to destroy the RSP and hence the union of all RSP factions should be seriously considered by the leaders.

The CPI(M) moves against the RSP have made the cadres of that party apprehensive. Unity measures should be initiated by seriously viewing this apprehension. The CPI(M) district conference which concluded here recently, the RSP was labelled as a ‘weak party,’ he said.

He alleged that it was a game plan to usurp more seats from the RSP during elections. So, instead of leaving the LDF on grounds that seats had been grabbed away, it is better for the RSP to quit the LDF earlier by taking into account the pulse of the cadres. After all, one of the main intentions behind the creation of the RSP was to counter the Communist Party of India. The present RSP has no strength to counter the CPI(M). That can be achieved through RSP unity. The moot point is that the prestige of the RSP has to be revived, Mr. John said. He said the party had decided to erect a statue of the late KCS Mani at Ambalappuzha. Though Mani was the person who had attacked C.P. Ramaswamy Iyer, people have started forgetting such a personality since there was no proper memorial. Union Defence Minister A.K. Antony will unveil the statue on March 2.
