Ecole Maternelle organises carnival for children

PUDUCHERRY: It was celebration time for kids at the French nursery school Ecole Maternelle, on Wednesday. A carnival, on the theme ‘farm’, was held for children between three and six years.

A press release from the school said the carnival had children in fancy dresses parade down Bussy Street and Romain Rolland Street in the heart of Puducherry.

“The subject of this year’s carnival is the farm, its animals, fruits and vegetables from the earth. The French Maternelle works by theme through the year, with four or five themes every year. The teachers build pedagogic links in reading, mathematics, visual arts and music,” school director Patrick Turbak said.

In January and February the theme allotted was ‘farm’, and students of all the classes had visited a farm.

The press release said the director and the team would like to open the school to more Indian pupils from this year.
