NEW DELHI: A series of events aimed at fostering ties between India and Russia will be held during 2008, designated as the “Year of Russia in India”. They will include an exhibition of paintings and sculptures by artists from the two countries.
The Russian Centre of Science and Culture in collaboration with the Roerich’s Art Society and the Canvas Art Gallery is organising a weeklong exhibition, “India-Russia 2008 Contemporary Art Exhibition”, of paintings and sculptures of eminent artists beginning Friday.
The Russian Centre for International Scientific and Cultural Cooperation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Russian Federation, will also present a “Friendship Award” to Ms. Surjit Akre for her contribution to Indo-Russian friendship. The exhibition will include the works of Aparna Caur, Prem Singh, Paramjeet Singh, Alexander Vlasov, Vijendra Sharma, Klera Singh, Tatyana Chagorova, and Ivan Alexandrov Bashkatov among others.
It will be on view till February 29 at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture.
