Teachers go on indefinite fast

PUDUCHERRY: Members of the Pre-Primary School Teachers’ Association on Wednesday launched an indefinite fast seeking job regularisation.

Joint president of the association P. Rukmini said they had decided to go on fast as the government failed to address their grievance even after several protests. “Several associations and political parties have extended their support. If the government does not come forward to hold talks with us by Thursday afternoon, we will stage a dharna in front of the Chief Secretary’s office,” Ms. Rukmini said.
