“Assured Career Progress has affected teachers who had obtained senior and selection scale” PUDUCHERRY: The Federation of Pondicherry State Teachers’ Association has decided to boycott the invigilation work during the Plus-Two public examination, which commences on March 3. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, president of the association S.K. Subramanian said the government should give a minimum of 20 per cent promotion avenue for them. Single channel promotion“The government has implemented Assured Career Progress for teachers of the Education Department. To benefit all teachers, single channel promotion should be given,” Mr. Subramanian said. Around 60 per cent of teachers, who had obtained senior and selection grades, were affected owing to the implementation of the scheme, he said, adding that the government could leave the choice of getting the grade to the teachers. “The School Education Directorate should come up with recommendations and present them before the Assembly for approval by the end of February. If not, we will boycott the invigilation works for Standard XII examinations,” he said. The association would also stage a protest in front of the school education directorate on February 27. It has around 450 teachers in Puducherry and Karaikal.
