Madhya Pradesh Congress President Suresh Pachouri along with AICC General Secretary V. Narayanaswamy, Leader of the Opposition Jamuna Devi and AICC secretary Jitin Prasad at the District Congress Presidents meet in Bhopal on Wednesday. BHOPAL: The All India Congress Committee general secretary, V. Narayanaswamy claimed here on Wednesday that his party would form the next Government in Madhya Pradesh later this year. The Congress campaign for the coming Assembly election would revolve around the issue of development, he said adding that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party would also be cornered as nothing had been done to mitigate the plight of the farmers and unemployed youth during the last four years. He further said that the BJP has also failed to meet its electoral promises on the issue of electricity, roads and water. Mr. Narayanaswamy, who is in-charge of Madhya Pradesh affairs, was addressing a press conference at the State Congress headquarters here flanked by the AICC secretary, Jitin Prasad, MPCC President, Suresh Pachouri and leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, Jamuna Devi. Mr. Narayanaswamy cited the example of the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh’s recent Jhabua visit and said that people were turning up in large numbers to attend Congress leaders’ rallies in different parts of Madhya Pradesh. The farmers were completely against the BJP-led State government, he said adding that people were angry with the BJP as it had gone back on its pre-election promises. Mr. Narayanaswamy went on to point out that funds coming from the Centre for implementing the Rural Employment Guarantee scheme and achieving the Shiksha Mission targets were not being properly utilised. He even alleged corruption in the implementation of rural employment guarantee scheme in Madhya Pradesh. He said that the State Government had done nothing to create employment avenues for the unemployed youth. Taking a dig at the series of investors’ meets organised by the State Government, the AICC general secretary said that the State Government was talking of industrial growth without building the infrastructure. Mr. Narayanaswamy questioned the timing of the Kisan Mahapanchayat organised here on Wednesday by the State Government and asked where they had been in the last four years. The farmers’ Panchayat is politically motivated with an eye on the coming elections, he added.
